Notes
  • BMI is body mass index.
  • FBS is fasting blood sugar.
  • A FMH DM means at least one parent or sibling has diabetes.
  • Optimization limits include: HDL Cholesterol ≤150 mg/dL. Systolic Blood Pressure must be ≥95 mmHg. Minimal BMI is 20 kg/m2 and minimal FBS is 60 mg/dl.
  • Easy optimizations include:

    1) Decrease weight 5%
    2) Decrease FBS 10%
    3) Decrease systolic blood pressure 10%
    4) Increase HDL cholesterol 10%
  • Medium intensity optimizations include:

    1) Decrease weight 10%
    2) Decrease FBS 25%
    3) Decrease systolic blood pressure 20%
    4) Increase HDL cholesterol 20%
  • Hard optimizations include:

    1) Decrease weight 20%
    2) Decrease FBS 50%
    3) Decrease systolic blood pressure 30%
    4) Increase HDL cholesterol 30%

Equations used

BMI = (Weight/2.205) / (Height/39.37)2
Terms = (0.028 * Age) + (0.661 * Sex) + (0.412 * MA) + (0.079 * FBS) + (0.018 * SystolicBloodPressure) - (0.039 * HDLCholesterol) + (0.07 * BMI) + (0.481 * FMHDM) - 13.415
RiskofDiabetes = 100 / (1 + e(-1*Terms))

Calculation Details and Variables
  • Equation parameters such as Sex, have two or more discrete values that may be used in the calculation. The numbers in the parentheses, e.g. (1), represent the values that will be used.
