Notes
  • This calculator represents findings from the literature referenced below. It is important to understand that these findings may not be representative of the experience in your local healthcare system.
  • Severe Hypoxia is defined as requiring >4 L O2, non-rebreather mask, BiPAP, or intubation to maintain O2 saturation ≥90%, or failure to keep O2 saturation ≥90%
  • MAP: mean arterial pressure.

Equations used

Odds7Day = e((7.8913*ln(Age))+(-1.5434*ln(MAP))+(1.0738*KidneyFactor)+(0.9385*SevereHypoxia)-29.8233)
Odds14Day = e((6.4001*ln(Age))+(-1.2073*ln(MAP))+(1.0281*KidneyFactor)+(0.7977*SevereHypoxia)-24.17)
Mortality7Day = 100 * Odds7Day / (1 + Odds7Day)
Mortality14Day = 100 * Odds14Day / (1 + Odds14Day)

Calculation Details and Variables
  • KidneyFactor is assigned values by this ordered logic:
    • If Creatinine ≥2 mg/dL, KidneyFactor = 1
    • Else KidneyFactor = 0.
  • Equation parameters such as Severe Hypoxia, have two or more discrete values that may be used in the calculation. The numbers in the parentheses, e.g. (0), represent the values that will be used.
