COVID-19 Inflammation Score for Disease Severity

Input

Albumin
HS CRP
WBC

Result

Important: Inputs must be complete to perform calculation.

Inflammation Score

Include literature references: Yes   No

  Inflammation Score Interpretation

0 points: No significant inflammation; 1.1 to 1.8% in-hospital mortality
1 to 2 points: Mild inflammation; 2.8 to 2.9% in-hospital mortality
3 to 4 points: Moderate inflammation; 4.1 to 5.2% in-hospital mortality
5 to 6 points: Severe inflammartion; 12.6 to 13.8% in-hospital mortality

Notes
  • This calculator represents findings from the literature referenced below. It is important to understand that these findings may not be representative of the experience in your local healthcare system.
  • Mortality estimates represent data from both derivation and validation cohorts.[1]

Equations used

InflammationScore = AlbuminFactor + HSCRPFactor + WBCFactor

Calculation Details and Variables
  • AlbuminFactor is assigned values by this ordered logic:
    • If Albumin ≤3.6 g/dL AlbuminFactor = 3
    • Else AlbuminFactor = 0.
  • HSCRPFactor is assigned values by this ordered logic:
    • If HS CRP ≥13 mg/L HSCRPFactor = 2
    • Else HSCRPFactor = 0.
  • WBCFactor is assigned values by this ordered logic:
    • If WBC ≥9.3 x10^3/microL WBCFactor = 1
    • Else WBCFactor = 0.
